Elyse Kaplan is a licensed clinical social worker who is licensed in both Maryland and Virginia and is a Maryland approved Social Work supervisor. Elyse is a certified EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing) practitioner and incorporates DBT.
Elyse provides individual therapy to young adults and adults with special interests in trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and individuals who are dealing with loss, grief, life transition, crisis situations and relationship issues. Elyse brings warmth and a humanistic approach to her work with clients and views therapy as collaborative.
Prior to joining CCG, Elyse has worked in many different settings including: out patient mental health centers (OMHCs), federally qualified mental health centers (FQHCs) inner city psychiatric emergency rooms, academic teaching hospitals, and has worked in the capacity of supervising staff to provide quality, evidence based, care to clients.
In addition to her almost 30 years of clinical work, Elyse has sat on the board of several organizations, including an international patient advocacy group as well as the clinical board of a local domestic violence agency, ensuring survivors were receiving clinically sound treatment. Elyse was also a first responder for the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team in New York City weeks after the 9/11 tragedy.
Elyse has supervised both newly licensed therapists and graduate students throughout her career and enjoys providing guidance to those starting their careers. Elyse received her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and her Masters in Social Work from Boston University.
