Music Therapy: Autism, Developmental Delays and Neurodiversities
People with autism and other neurodiversities experience the world in a different way. It can be scary, overwhelming, frustrating, and isolating. In many cases, depression and anxiety also occur because of social isolation and negative self-perception. In our work we will uncover and build upon strengths. Our work also included building new skills in session and helping you to generalize them outside of session.
At CCM, we work to calm the sensory system and make way for building connections and relationships, self esteem, strength, and skills to overcome difficulties. We utilize individual and small group therapy with strengths-based interventions, social skills instruction, and music therapy.
Research supports the effectiveness of music therapy in overall physical rehabilitation, facilitating movement, providing emotional support for clients and their families, and providing an outlet for expression of feelings.
