With more than 25 years’ experience as a leader in the fields of Human Resources, Counseling and Teaching, Ira provides both a practical approach and an insider’s view to his Career Counseling and Executive Coaching Practices with CCM. Ira works with people at various stages of their careers including students and adults who are struggling with career search and job satisfaction concerns. Ira offers tools that help clients to analyze interests and skills that support growth and change, with a solution-focused approach.
As a Career Counselor and Executive Coach, Ira believes that each of us possess the unique power to construct his or her own career story, or work identity, in accordance with their aspirations and abilities. Career development is the lifelong process through which people come to understand themselves as they relate to the world of work and education and their role in it. Career Development focuses on seeking, obtaining and processing information about self, occupational and educational alternatives, life styles and role options.
Ira offers Executive Coaching to individuals as he helps them navigate through sensitive matters that may be outside of their skill set, comfort level, and area of expertise. Coaching is a powerful process that helps individuals and teams make positive changes and accomplish results that really matter to them, their families, and their organizations.
During his multifaceted career, Ira has worked with a wide range of clients and helped to facilitate successful career search thus increasing career satisfaction. Ira is an effective communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills, with hands on corporate experience in Organizational Development, Change Management, Strategic Planning and Mediation. He possesses exemplary discretion and diplomacy in handling sensitive issues and individuals.
Ira helped launch the careers of students and alumni as Career Counselor and teacher of Career Planning courses at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. He has worked as a family therapist and as a Mediator for the State of Maryland, Commission on Human Relations where he helped to resolve employment disputes between individuals and employers. He earned his Master of Arts with a concentration in Community Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland and his Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Stony Brook. He has been certified as a mediator with MICPEL, the Maryland Institute of Continuing Education for Law Professionals. Ira is originally from New York and has spent the majority of his life in the Baltimore and the Greater DC area. During his leisure time, he enjoys cycling, yoga, and wood-working. He enjoys spending time with his two grown children, friends, and extended family.
