The Counseling Center of Maryland
The professionals at The Counseling Center of Maryland use a variety of techniques to help improve the quality of life for individuals, couples, groups, and families. We work with children, adolescents and adults. Through our strength-based and collaborative approach, we offer new insights that enable our clients to see things from different perspectives. We provide treatment and counseling for anxiety, depression, grief, emotional regulation issues, self-esteem, relationship concerns, and parenting. Through active and evidence based strategies we help empower our clients to make choices that evoke positive changes in their lives.
Together, we will look at feelings, thoughts, sensations, and behaviors as vehicles to affirmative change. Our clinicians each have their own specialties and have obtained the gold standard of advanced training (evidence-based) for their area of expertise. Some of the specialties within our practice include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Process Groups, Psychodynamic Work, Gottman Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness.
The Counseling Center of Maryland offers multiple modalities of group therapy. Research shows that group therapy is often equally and often more effective than individual therapy. Often we think of group therapy, we envision "support groups". Although our groups do provide a supportive environment, our focus is empowerment and change. Our group options include various process groups, DBT skills groups, CBT skills groups, PEERS, Music therapy, Transgender teens, Mindfulness, Addiction Recovery Groups, The Professional Series and others.
